  • The Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) is a modern university of science and technology with a student population of over 18,000.     TU Delft is located in the university district (TU-wijk) of the historic city of Delft. Beyond the medieval church towers, there are many impressive university buildings, laboratories, classrooms and offices. They stand in the newly opened Mekelpark, which is a green, car-free heart of the campus where students study in pleasant surroundings. Most of the streets around the campus are named after scholars who laid the foundation for the University’s successes. The University’s philosophy, facilities and pleasant environment all contribute to its excellent academic atmosphere.

  • Delft is a compact, historic city between Rotterdam and The Hague in the province of Zuid-Holland. It forms part of the Randstad, in the west of the Netherlands and is the nation’s main educational and research centre. Today, Delft ranks as a high-tech location due to the abundance of technology-based institutions and organisations based in the city.

    Delft has a reputation for being a friendly city. Bars and terraces line the canals and quirky shops, affordable restaurants and great cinemas can be found in the city square. It is easy to find your way around as everything is within walking or cycling distance. Delft is bursting with activity from spring right through to autumn, with many music festivals and street theatre on offer.

Health insurance

The Netherlands has a reciprocal health care agreement with Australia.

Living cost

An exchange student from abroad will need a minimum of 850 Euros per month to cover the costs of living and studying, including study material.

Visa

Students from Australia do not need a provisional residence permit (visa or MVV in Dutch) to enter the Netherlands, however, if you are staying longer than 3 months, you need to apply for a residence permit (REV).
