  • Established in 1971 as a result of the amalgamation of several universities of applied sciences and vocational training centres The University of Applied Sciences Aachen (FH Aachen) is one of the biggest universities of its kind in Germany with roughly 11,300 students, 220 professors, 300 contract lecturers, and 340 assistants.

    The university specialises in the areas of technology, engineering and business, design and FH Aachen ranks first among the universities of Applied Sciences in Germany in the fields of Electrical and Mechanical engineering. With ten Faculties offering 48 Bachelor's, 22 Master's and three cooperative degree programs FH Aachen has a tradition of practice-oriented educational tradition going back more than 100 years.

    The FH Aachen’s main campus is situated in Aachen with a secondary campus in Jülich.

  • Located on the borders of the Netherlands and Belgium, Aachen is a spa town located in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Known, thanks in part to its location, as an international city, it is also a city of innovation, focusing on science, engineering and information technology.

    A modern metropolis with a rich history – it was once the town where kings were crowned – Aachen is an exciting, vibrant city with old cafes, a well-known casino and the Dom, a cathedral dating back to 786 AD.

Mainly German; some courses are in English
Please note: Aachen offers a free 3-week Intensive German Language course before each semester (September/March) and during the semester (4- 8 contact hours per week). Students can get credit points (generally 5 ECTS) for it.
